What is OpenSearch UI?

OpenSearch UI is the next-generation analytics interface for Amazon OpenSearch Service. It's cloud-hosted, supports multiple data sources, and includes workspaces, SSO, and GenAI features. See What is OpenSearch UI? for details.

How is it different from OpenSearch Dashboards?

OpenSearch Dashboards runs on a single domain and goes down during upgrades. OpenSearch UI is AWS-managed, connects to multiple data sources, supports workspaces and SSO, and stays available during upgrades. See the comparison table.

What data sources can I connect?

  • OpenSearch managed domains (public or VPC)
  • OpenSearch Serverless collections
  • Amazon CloudWatch Logs (via direct query)
  • Amazon Security Lake (via direct query)
  • Amazon S3 (via direct query)

What query languages are supported?

PPL (Piped Processing Language), SQL, DQL (Dashboards Query Language), and Lucene. See the Query Language Guide for examples.

How many applications can I create?

Default quota is 10 applications per account per region. Request an increase via AWS Service Quotas.

Can I use OpenSearch UI with VPC domains?

Yes, but you need to authorize VPC endpoint access first. See Connectivity Issues.

Is there a cost for OpenSearch UI?

OpenSearch UI is included at no additional charge with Amazon OpenSearch Service. You pay only for the underlying OpenSearch domains and Serverless collections.

Which regions support OpenSearch UI?

OpenSearch UI is available in 14 regions. Check the endpoints and quotas page  for the current list.
